Celebrating My 100th Post!






Due to life being all sorts of crazy and the monkeys bringing home what seemed like every germ under the sun I missed posting for one year anniversary of my blog on January 18, 2013.  (YAY!  I made it to one year)  So, I am making a big deal out of this instead, mind you I would have made a big deal out of this anyways.  

I am also going to take this chance to throw out a photos and stuff from things that I wanted to post over the last year but I just didn't get a chance to write a post about in a timely manner. (like Fan Expo) Something that I am going to try not to let happen this year, after all, events are not like crafts which can be posted whenever.  Also stuff that I just didn't know how to put into words, which is also something I am going to work on.  

The first two pictures are from Fan Expo 2012 in August which I enjoyed a great deal and I probably would have been more likely to blog about if I had remembered to bring my camera.

 There were a lot of people who did a lot of awesome cos-play it was truly awe inspiring.  (Very sad I didn't have my camera)  But my favorite had to be this one:

 The other pictures are from the trip to Jamaica I took in November, it was the first real vacation I took in years and I had a very relaxing time.  Seriously, I was sleeping by 9:00 almost every night while we were there.  I have never felt so old and boring in my life, but that is what a vacation is all about right?  Doing what makes you happy?

We did some really awesome stuff, a bike tour of the Blue Mountains (complete with coffee), Dunn River Falls, a chair lift ride over the vegetation and bobsledding.  Then of course there was the just relaxing by the pool and soaking up the sun.

 Okay, that's the end of me bombarding you with pictures.  I think that picture of me and Batman is my favorite picture taken of me in a long time.  I love that dress, it's super comfy.  And it has pockets, there's just something about a dress with pockets.  

Anyhow, here's to another hundred posts, may they be interesting and keep you coming back to read.

One of my favorite vegetables is butternut squash so when Chatelaine  posted this yummy looking recipe  for mac and cheese brimming with squash I immediately pinned it to make at a later time.  Now, before Pinterest  I am willing to admit, recipes got saved in my e-mail, but they never got made.  They just got lost in the shuffle; now they get neatly organized and displayed where I can go through them on a regular basis.  More importantly than that I can try them.   This recipe worked out well for me, I thought the cheese and squash tasted great together, the kids however did not agree.  They like their squash on the side, where they can control how much they ingest.  Next time I will definitely use less breadcrumbs though.

Spooktacular Giveaway Hop

When I was much younger than I am now, I loved nothing more that a good "spooky" story.  I spent many nights laying up in bed reading books that were designed to make your skin crawl and leave you with goose bumps. My personal favourite author for Young Adult Thrillers was and probably still is Christopher Pike.  Twenty years after reading his books some of them still stand out in my mind in perfect clarity.  The top one would be Remember Me. Something about Shari's story struck a chord with me that has echoed through the last twenty years, as any good book should I suppose. Sadly when I was a teenager I didn't hold on to as many books as I do now so I spend a lot of time hunting to replace the ones I really wish I had kept. (Sweet Valley High anyone?)
