A Break In Our Regularly Scheduled Programing

Due to unforeseen circumstances I had to take a minor break in blogging.  (as you may have noticed)   I also had to ditch my A to Z theme for this year, I am not dropping out of the challenge I just cannot commit to the work that my oh so brilliant theme involved after losing a week of writing time.

That's not to say I won't tackle it, after all some of the posts have already been written, therefore they will be pushed forward to 2014.  Meaning this year's A to Z will once again be random.  That's a scary thought for me right now, at this point I only have idea's for A and C, but those posts at least will rock your sock off.

Oh wait, I also have N and H, so that's not so bad, only 22 more to go.  Here's looking forward to another great challenge and hopefully no more bad surprises this year.  Because that would suck and I have already had too much suck this year. 

Anyhow, here's looking forward to an awesome challenge this year!

      Hi Laura! I am hoping that winging it goes well, it wasn't a total train smash last year, but I had a few days to kind of plan it. This year I really have no idea so... *shrug*

      It's all in the name of fun though.

Making Mac and Cheese

One of my favorite vegetables is butternut squash so when Chatelaine  posted this yummy looking recipe  for mac and cheese brimming with squash I immediately pinned it to make at a later time.  Now, before Pinterest  I am willing to admit, recipes got saved in my e-mail, but they never got made.  They just got lost in the shuffle; now they get neatly organized and displayed where I can go through them on a regular basis.  More importantly than that I can try them.   This recipe worked out well for me, I thought the cheese and squash tasted great together, the kids however did not agree.  They like their squash on the side, where they can control how much they ingest.  Next time I will definitely use less breadcrumbs though.

Spooktacular Giveaway Hop

When I was much younger than I am now, I loved nothing more that a good "spooky" story.  I spent many nights laying up in bed reading books that were designed to make your skin crawl and leave you with goose bumps. My personal favourite author for Young Adult Thrillers was and probably still is Christopher Pike.  Twenty years after reading his books some of them still stand out in my mind in perfect clarity.  The top one would be Remember Me. Something about Shari's story struck a chord with me that has echoed through the last twenty years, as any good book should I suppose. Sadly when I was a teenager I didn't hold on to as many books as I do now so I spend a lot of time hunting to replace the ones I really wish I had kept. (Sweet Valley High anyone?)
