Studying

I have been taking two separate study at home courses over the past year or so in my 'spare time' and most of what I have learned is that my brain is not what it used to be.  In college I barely had to study, (mind you then I had all sorts of time and very little stress) now it's hours and hours of study for things to feel like they are being retained.

There's got to be a trick to it right?  Some sort of thing that makes information stay in there despite the fact that I can only spare a few weeks to studying.  Clearly my current method of reading, highlighting and going back and rereading and making notes is not doing it for me.

Time to study up on study habits.  Any tips?

  1. Have someone quiz you. Or write what you highlighted. Read outloud what you wrote. They say the best way to retain something is to use as many senses as possible.

    1. I will have to try reading outloud, when I was in college after Ace was born I used to read to him from my text books as I was studying and I did seem to retain a lot more information. Thank you.

  2. There are a lot of technology tools we have now that we didn't have while in school. You may be able to find a flash card app that allows you to input information and quiz yourself. I found that just creating the flash cards helps you learn the information.

    1. I did find a very interesting looking flashcard app for my phone so I am going to give that a try as well. I didn't think of that. Technology escapes my mind sometimes.
