Reading Challenge Book Review: Christine- Stephan King

Image
With as much Stephan King as I have read I was kind of surprised that I had never read this book but about halfway through the first chapter my mind began to wonder and I thought maybe this is why.  I have that problem with his writing sometimes.  I think he is brilliant, he is one of my favorite writers, but there is some of his writing that I just can't connect with and Christine is one of those books. I finished it, but it took me longer than most books do and I had to force it.  I will admit though...it really, really gave me the creeps.  Not in the sleep with my light on for a week kind of way that Pet Cemetery did but I was kind of glad I don't drive.  As much as I didn't connect with the book the malevolence of Christine came pouring through the pages as I got closer to the end of the book and I was glad to be done with it.  Definitely not something I will reread, probably not even something I will keep on my bookshelf.   I don't ev...

My thoughts on the A to Z Challenge

Image
First off, I'm just kind of happy I made it through, as my followers can attest to I was not up to anything close to my regular writing at the end there.  I got behind and with any sort of theme to focus my posts on I floundered I bit.  But I caught up and finished on time (yay me!) I loved doing the A to Z Challenge, I love writing and I need as much practice as I can get but I think to do it again I would have to have a theme.  Which is weird for someone as unstructured as I am about my writing but in order to guarantee that I have something to write about every day I need a prompt.  In the process I found some great new followers, (Yay!) welcome by the way.  I am happy that you guys decided to stick around, it's a whole lot of crazy and random around here.  Feel free to join in the fun!  (seriously I love comments, I get all giddy) I also found lots of great blogs to add to my read everyday list (or at least every second day as I ...

Hey, It's May!

Image
I like May, it marks the beginning of the summer season.  It comes along with a bit of a slowdown at work (thank goodness because I thought I was turning into a robot) and a chance to get outside more and enjoy the warmer weather.   It also marks the end of the A to Z Challenge (huge sigh of relief) which I am very happy to have finished. There is a lot I am looking forward to this month as well, going to have a big crackdown on the lack of training I have been doing now that the warmer weather is here.  Looking forward to some great walks with hopefully some great picture taking opportunities.  I know I got some awesome shots last year.  (which is amazing since I am a terrible photographer) Then of course there is The Avengers...I have been looking forward to this movie with great anticipation since about half a second after Captain America ended.  I am not for a minute worried that I am going to be disappointed and not just because of the dr...

Z is for Zombie, Zebra, Zoodles, Zelda, and Zionks!

Image
So, this is the last day of the A to Z Challenge.  I was a little worried last week that I wasn't going to make it to the end.  I got behind and a little uninspired, a little less than motivated and real life caught up with me in a very big way.  However here I am by some miracle on April 30th with my Z post.  YAY! I like the letter Z, if I had to pick a favorite letter of the alphabet this would be it.  First of all because I love saying it...Zee...Zee...Zee (Come on you say it too, it's fun!) and second because (as you can tell by the title of this blog post) a whole boatload of my favorite things begin with the letter Z.  Zombie!  I love zombies, I am training the monkey's to love (and possibly be terrified of) zombies.  Plus I think it is adorable that Cat wanted to bring a Zombie baby home until she happen to grab one that moved (apparently creepy dolls that are trying to eat themselves are okay....as long as they don't move) ...

X is for Xena

Image
X was hard post for me to come up with a topic.  It is certainly isn't an easy letter to come up for words for.  Plus I am behind on my posts (almost caught up but still) and I was oh so tired last night.  Then I remembered Xena: Warrior Princess and how much I used to love watching it and thought now there is a post.  (Yay!) Now as far as warrior princesses go Xena is far from being my favorite, I far prefer Wonder Woman or She-ra.  But I did genuinely enjoy the show unlike so much of what is on TV these days.  Sure it had it's moments of being absolutely ridiculous (so does Doctor Who, Torchwood and Sherlock Holmes all of which I love) but it was brilliantly written.  The acting was also fairly decent for the most part, which seems to be lacking in some shows I catch these days. Plus I had a massive crush on Gabrielle...

W is for Why?

This is another poem that I wrote when I was in high school.  Why were we created? Why are we born? Why do we have to die? Why does that make me cry? Why do people get murdered? Why do people kill? Why does God let it happen? Why? Why? Why? Why is the grass green? Why is the sky blue? Why do birds fly? Why do dogs hate cats? Why does God allow war? Why are children starving? Why let the children die? Why? Why? Why? Why let the children die? Why let them cry? Why does one have so much, And the other so little? Why mommy, why? Why daddy, why? Why do the children die? Why does God let it happen? Why? Some tell me why? Why?           Why not?
