Celebrate The Small Things: August 29, 2015

This week I am celebrating the joy of a slow move, I am almost done transferring everything out of my old apartment into the condo and while it has been super stressful I haven't been too overly panicked.  (really have way too much stuff though)

I am also celebrating that one Sunday my kids finally come home.  Yay!  Ace has been gone since the middle of July and while not having them underfoot for the move was nice I am starting to forget what they look like. LOL!

    It's quite a luxury to move home slowly. Last time we did, it all happened in a terrible rush because there was a mix-up with money being transferred and keys being collected. It's funny now, but there was much tearing out of hair at the time.

Making Mac and Cheese

One of my favorite vegetables is butternut squash so when Chatelaine  posted this yummy looking recipe  for mac and cheese brimming with squash I immediately pinned it to make at a later time.  Now, before Pinterest  I am willing to admit, recipes got saved in my e-mail, but they never got made.  They just got lost in the shuffle; now they get neatly organized and displayed where I can go through them on a regular basis.  More importantly than that I can try them.   This recipe worked out well for me, I thought the cheese and squash tasted great together, the kids however did not agree.  They like their squash on the side, where they can control how much they ingest.  Next time I will definitely use less breadcrumbs though.

Spooktacular Giveaway Hop

When I was much younger than I am now, I loved nothing more that a good "spooky" story.  I spent many nights laying up in bed reading books that were designed to make your skin crawl and leave you with goose bumps. My personal favourite author for Young Adult Thrillers was and probably still is Christopher Pike.  Twenty years after reading his books some of them still stand out in my mind in perfect clarity.  The top one would be Remember Me. Something about Shari's story struck a chord with me that has echoed through the last twenty years, as any good book should I suppose. Sadly when I was a teenager I didn't hold on to as many books as I do now so I spend a lot of time hunting to replace the ones I really wish I had kept. (Sweet Valley High anyone?)
