Bloggy Ornament Exchange

This December I participated in For The Love of Writings' Bloggy Ornament Exchange.  I love exchanges, usually I do craft associated ones because I love making stuff and I love learning new techniques from other people. 

However this year I was not feeling the Christmas mood and needed some inspiration to get my Christmas tree put up.  Not having the kids for Christmas Eve made me kind of wonder what the point was know what I mean?  The idea of an ornament sent from somewhere else was just the spark I needed to get myself into the Christmas spirit.  After all it would need a home right?

Cat had a blast picking out the ornaments (she felt they were friends and needed to stay together) to go out to my recipient and we got it shipped out on Sunday no problem.  I hope they made it to their new home in a timely fashion.

Meanwhile, I got this super awesome ornament last night:


Isn't he adorable?  It's hard to make out in the picture but his stomach says "Tweet This!"  He has now made his home happily near the top of my tree.

    Is that a cell phone in his hand? lol

    Melissa, I have found that whenever I use my Galaxy tablet to tweet, I invariably make grammatical errors. Do you find that to be true as well?

      I do tend to have problems when I tweet or blog from my cell. Unfortunately, being so busy that's how most of my stuff is done these days. -_-

One of my favorite vegetables is butternut squash so when Chatelaine  posted this yummy looking recipe  for mac and cheese brimming with squash I immediately pinned it to make at a later time.  Now, before Pinterest  I am willing to admit, recipes got saved in my e-mail, but they never got made.  They just got lost in the shuffle; now they get neatly organized and displayed where I can go through them on a regular basis.  More importantly than that I can try them.   This recipe worked out well for me, I thought the cheese and squash tasted great together, the kids however did not agree.  They like their squash on the side, where they can control how much they ingest.  Next time I will definitely use less breadcrumbs though.

Spooktacular Giveaway Hop

When I was much younger than I am now, I loved nothing more that a good "spooky" story.  I spent many nights laying up in bed reading books that were designed to make your skin crawl and leave you with goose bumps. My personal favourite author for Young Adult Thrillers was and probably still is Christopher Pike.  Twenty years after reading his books some of them still stand out in my mind in perfect clarity.  The top one would be Remember Me. Something about Shari's story struck a chord with me that has echoed through the last twenty years, as any good book should I suppose. Sadly when I was a teenager I didn't hold on to as many books as I do now so I spend a lot of time hunting to replace the ones I really wish I had kept. (Sweet Valley High anyone?)
