Procrastination...The Greatest Teacher

So yesterday rather than doing the productive thing I was hoping to be doing while I was listening to the phone drone on in my ear at work.  (work on my NaNoWrMo of course) I decided to pull out a sheet of stationary and doodle on the back of it. 

This happened because one of my super awesome pen pals is forever sending me letters with all these lovely drawings and I feel bad.  I mean all she gets from me is plain boring old stationary.  Maybe some stickers if I am not writing on the fly, which sadly I usually am. 

I am actually quite proud of how they came out.  I mean not only can you tell what they are, they are actually quite cute.  Except the cat, that just looks kind of evil, which I suppose cats are prone to doing.

    Cute doodles! I'd say that cat looks more sneaky than evil. (Although I guess that's one-in-the-same a lot of the time!)

Making Mac and Cheese

One of my favorite vegetables is butternut squash so when Chatelaine  posted this yummy looking recipe  for mac and cheese brimming with squash I immediately pinned it to make at a later time.  Now, before Pinterest  I am willing to admit, recipes got saved in my e-mail, but they never got made.  They just got lost in the shuffle; now they get neatly organized and displayed where I can go through them on a regular basis.  More importantly than that I can try them.   This recipe worked out well for me, I thought the cheese and squash tasted great together, the kids however did not agree.  They like their squash on the side, where they can control how much they ingest.  Next time I will definitely use less breadcrumbs though.

Spooktacular Giveaway Hop

When I was much younger than I am now, I loved nothing more that a good "spooky" story.  I spent many nights laying up in bed reading books that were designed to make your skin crawl and leave you with goose bumps. My personal favourite author for Young Adult Thrillers was and probably still is Christopher Pike.  Twenty years after reading his books some of them still stand out in my mind in perfect clarity.  The top one would be Remember Me. Something about Shari's story struck a chord with me that has echoed through the last twenty years, as any good book should I suppose. Sadly when I was a teenager I didn't hold on to as many books as I do now so I spend a lot of time hunting to replace the ones I really wish I had kept. (Sweet Valley High anyone?)
