Slow Cooker Recipes For Beginners Review and Giveaway

My slow cooker is probably one of the most underused appliances in my house.  I was so excited when we got it on sale when I was at home on maternity leave with Cat, it meant that we could continue to have great, home cooked meals once I went back to work.  Sadly, the prep for it seemed to take my longer than actually making a home cooked meal so it just sat on the counter collecting dust.

I did use it for Christmas though, boy can I make a great slow cooker ham.  Yummy!  Which frees up my oven to make a turkey if I want.  Anyway, fast forward to the opportunity to review this book, I want to use my slow cooker more.  The idea of coming home after working ten or twelve hours and not having to cook because it's ready is fantastic.  So I volunteered happily.

The first recipe I decided to test out was the roast because our family has a deep love of beef.

There it is all rubbed with spices and placed in the slow cooker, looks like it will be so good.

Here it is all covered in vegetables, love the tiny potatoes.  Sadly, I forgot to take a picture after it was done because it smelled so delicious that we just ate it without thinking and it was really good.

There were a lot more delicious sounding recipes in this book, I think next I am going to make a cheesecake because I had no idea that my slow cooker could even do that.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review and they a giving a copy away to one of my readers as well.  You can enter below.

  1. I don't use mine often enough either. It is nice though for holidays that's true. I use mine to make mac & cheese and such which makes for more stove space too :)

  2. My most unused small appliance is a juicer. I got it a long time ago when i thought I would make us fresh juice but that didn't last long.
