Roman's Holiday Blog Tour
Roman's Holiday by Susan Aylworth
Four years after Roman Kincaid was catapulted into stardom as a country-western singer and A-list movie star, he is burned out: exhausted by a grueling schedule, drained by the ceaseless demands of producers and managers, weary of meeting the needs of others at the expense of his own. Leaving a sold-out show in Phoenix, he rents a car and drives north and east, landing in the Painted Desert town of Rainbow Rock.
Nearly three years after leaving her old life behind, Lottie Beale is feeding people and baking pies, managing the Kachina Café and tending secrets of her own. When circumstances conspire to give two attractive people some time alone together amid the world-class vistas of the Four Corners, they discover more than either had bargained for.
Expert:
The heat from his body warmed her, his arm pillowed her head, his mouth hovered only inches above hers . . . “Lottie?” He leaned nearer.
“Yes,” she answered and lifted her head, closing the space that separated them until their lips finally touched.
The first kiss was brief, their closed mouths barely touching, their eyes asking and answering, but in the next moment they were wrapped in each other—equally giving and taking, touching and claiming, discovering one another in an explosive release of the tension that had been building between them.
In a pattern older than time, their release only brought more tension. Lottie could feel it building all over her. Keen awareness of neglected body parts competed for attention with the places Roman touched, her whole body making demands with an insistence that almost frightened her. This isn’t like me, she told herself, but she hardly heard it over the humming tension that thrummed through her, making her vibrate like a plucked guitar string.
She could only imagine the fireworks that would result if she encouraged Roman to carry this through to its natural conclusion. He’s leaving soon, you know. The whisper hit home. She put one hand against his chest, lightly pushing him away. “Roman, stop.”
He drew back mere inches, swallowed, fought to get his breathing under control. “Stop?”
Review:What an incredible book, I could almost see and taste some of the things that Susan was describing. So fantastic! The story line was interesting and moved at a decent pace. Rainbow Rock sounds like an incredible place, makes you want to visit for a vacation. The descriptions of the monuments around it just adds too that desire.
