Today's List: May 10, 2015

One of my goals for the blog this year is to blog more and to express more of myself through blogging and I though that listing would be a good way.  

I'd Love Waking Up Inside These Books:

  • Eragon - Christopher Paolini (I would love to be an elf)

  • The Magician's Nephew - C.S. Lewis

  • The Once and Future King - T.H. Elliot

  • The Ruins Of Ambrai - Melanie Rawn


  • Her Majesty's Wizard - Christopher Stasheff

There may be a bit of a theme there but these are some of my favourite books and I would love to spend time in any of there worlds.  There are others of course but these are the top ones.

    A friendly dragon...particularly a magic one...would be sweet. If it could potty in an appropriate and distant place, it would be perfect.

    If I had to choose a book to be part of, I'd definitely want to be a wizard in Harry Potter!! But your list of books are also very interesting :)

Making Mac and Cheese

One of my favorite vegetables is butternut squash so when Chatelaine  posted this yummy looking recipe  for mac and cheese brimming with squash I immediately pinned it to make at a later time.  Now, before Pinterest  I am willing to admit, recipes got saved in my e-mail, but they never got made.  They just got lost in the shuffle; now they get neatly organized and displayed where I can go through them on a regular basis.  More importantly than that I can try them.   This recipe worked out well for me, I thought the cheese and squash tasted great together, the kids however did not agree.  They like their squash on the side, where they can control how much they ingest.  Next time I will definitely use less breadcrumbs though.

Spooktacular Giveaway Hop

When I was much younger than I am now, I loved nothing more that a good "spooky" story.  I spent many nights laying up in bed reading books that were designed to make your skin crawl and leave you with goose bumps. My personal favourite author for Young Adult Thrillers was and probably still is Christopher Pike.  Twenty years after reading his books some of them still stand out in my mind in perfect clarity.  The top one would be Remember Me. Something about Shari's story struck a chord with me that has echoed through the last twenty years, as any good book should I suppose. Sadly when I was a teenager I didn't hold on to as many books as I do now so I spend a lot of time hunting to replace the ones I really wish I had kept. (Sweet Valley High anyone?)
