H is for Hockey!






I almost feel like this post is a bit predictable, a post on hockey coming from a Canadian girl.  To be honest we were brainstorming ideas I couldn't really come up with anything for H and was going to go with Hello Kitty.  (please don't laugh too much)  Then I got my birthday present:

 After I sat around in my oh so comfy hockey jersey for a while I pondered the last game I watched (we lost) and thought I don't watch enough hockey anymore.  Which is a great realization in April when you're a Leafs fan.   Really though between my work schedule and life in general I only caught a couple of games this year and they weren't spectacular by any means.

Than that guilt started to sink in, you, that guilt that any true fan of any team feels when they haven't been watching and their team hasn't done well.  Maybe if I had watched more?  Maybe they would have won?  

Meanwhile, Blue Jays Tickets aren't that expensive...

Making Mac and Cheese

One of my favorite vegetables is butternut squash so when Chatelaine  posted this yummy looking recipe  for mac and cheese brimming with squash I immediately pinned it to make at a later time.  Now, before Pinterest  I am willing to admit, recipes got saved in my e-mail, but they never got made.  They just got lost in the shuffle; now they get neatly organized and displayed where I can go through them on a regular basis.  More importantly than that I can try them.   This recipe worked out well for me, I thought the cheese and squash tasted great together, the kids however did not agree.  They like their squash on the side, where they can control how much they ingest.  Next time I will definitely use less breadcrumbs though.

Spooktacular Giveaway Hop

When I was much younger than I am now, I loved nothing more that a good "spooky" story.  I spent many nights laying up in bed reading books that were designed to make your skin crawl and leave you with goose bumps. My personal favourite author for Young Adult Thrillers was and probably still is Christopher Pike.  Twenty years after reading his books some of them still stand out in my mind in perfect clarity.  The top one would be Remember Me. Something about Shari's story struck a chord with me that has echoed through the last twenty years, as any good book should I suppose. Sadly when I was a teenager I didn't hold on to as many books as I do now so I spend a lot of time hunting to replace the ones I really wish I had kept. (Sweet Valley High anyone?)
